Menstrual Hygiene Day (MH Day) is observed annually on May 28 to raise awareness about the significance of safe menstrual hygiene management worldwide. Launched by the German NGO WASH United in 2013, it was first celebrated in 2014.

In many communities around the world, women's options for menstrual hygiene products are often constrained by factors such as cost, availability, and societal norms. While access to sanitation facilities and menstrual hygiene products is crucial, fostering open discussions and providing adequate education for women and girls is equally vital. Research indicates that the lack of access to period products can lead to girls missing school during their menstrual periods each month.
